Anacapa Brewing Company

Our brewing friends at Anacapa Brewing Company in Ventura will pour their favorite Irish red & Irish stout. Not wanting you to go home late at night without something solid to put down, they'll be serving a traditional plate of corned beef & cabbage with other selections for your evening.

Aqua Beachfront Bar & C-Street

The folks at Aqua Beachfront Bar & C-Street in Ventura will be serving up their St. Patty's specials on both March 17 & 18. Start your day with corned beef hash & poached eggs or try an Irish breakfast with fried eggs, a potato cake and grilled bangers. For lunch or dinner, choose from their braised lamb shank with braised kale & horseradish mashed potatoes or traditional corned beef & cabbage with creamy mustard sauce and steamed red potatoes. All their specials are available in either the bar or restaurant.

Canyon Club

At the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, the world's leading U2 tribute band takes the stage for a special St. Patrick's Day Celebration! Opening set by local singing sensation Kimberly Dawn will get you in the spirit. Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 8pm.

Dargan's

You can't get anymore Irish than at Dargan's in Ventura. They are the Irish pub of Ventura and this year on St. Patty's is no different. They will start the day with a family float that parades down Main Street in Downtown Ventura beginning at 10am in the annual County Ventura St. Patrick's Day Parade. Than all day long they'll be serving traditional Irish food specials and green beer. Last year, they had Irish dancers and bagpipers throughout the day and this year should be no different.

The Edge

If you don't want to go crazy or get crazy, go to The Edge in Westlake Village. TheyÃ¢ï¿½ï¿½ll keep it simple for their hometown locals serving up Guinness beer, Irish Whisky specials and corned beef & cabbage dinners.

Lab Brewing Company

In addition to their fabulous St. Patty's Day menu above, the Lab Brewing Company in Agoura Hills, by the way can't wait for their corned beef sliders, they'll have live music with The Acoustic Saints starting at 9pm.

The Kitchen

The Kitchen in Oxnard is having a Downtown Pub Crawl with some local favorites from Ventura. Enjoy great brew from Two Trees Brewing Company and honky-tonk sounds from the guys of Big Tweed!

Ojai Beverage Company

Join the folks at Ojai Beverage Company in Ojai for a St. Patty's Day celebration all day long. They'll have great Irish beers on tap, Irish Food with an OBC twist, Irish Music, a Costume Contest where they'll be giving away a gift cards to the top 3 winners. Not sure how they plan on doing it, but they'll also have great deals for Irish beer & whiskey to go!

Old New York Bagel & Deli

There are Jewish delicatessens, but are there Irish-Jewish deli's too? We're not sure, but our good friends at Old New York Bagel & Deli in Camarillo, Newbury Park and Mammoth Lakes are celebrating their 18th anniversary this month and they've got a case of green bagels and green cookies. Look out!

Pirate's Grub 'n Grog

The shipmates at Pirate's Grub 'n Grog in Oxnard will feature a live band and cold beer. You might find some green drinks behind the port holes too. You never know what you'll find there, but the regulars come back week after week.

Sugar Beets Restaurant

With a DJ playing hits all day long, Sugar Beets in Oxnard will offer a regular menu plus some incredible Irish offerings. They'll start with an Irish leek & potato soup, salmon with green sauce & potatoes, than complete your meal with an Irish bread pudding with whisky sauce. Yes, they'll have green beer specials too.

Wolf Creek Brewing Company

There's a lot brewing at Wolf Creek Brewing Company in Calabasas. Although they don't have live music, they'll lighten the mood with green beers, dark beers and tap them off with some dinner specials to wet your appetite.

Zoey's Cafe

There's no Irish music at Zoey's Cafe in Ventura. However, they are featuring a singer & songwriter Cindy Alexander for the early show. Later in the evening, it will be a night of beat poets featuring a new monthly series of creative rap/intelligent hip hop musicians with a message.

As we all know, our good friends at The Kitchen in Oxnard were recently on Guy Fieri's triple D TV show and they're serving $3 craft beers and selected special appetizers. Whenever you visit The Kitchen for Happy Hour, you'll find they shuffle the menu frequently and yes there's always something new on the menu.

Now, there are many pubs with happy hours in the VC. Take for example Anacapa Brewing Company and Dargans Irish Pub in Ventura. These guys are friends to the show. They are local hangouts and their always packed. Just walk in and you'll discover why they don't need to discount their brew and grub. The seats are full and each of these places offer a buck off their brew.

Go to La Fonte Pizze in Ojai. They'll give you 1/2 off your beer and wine, plus 1/2 off most of their entire menu of dinner entrees. That is a bargain and a great meal.

Now I know Tom is a sucker for beer and pizza. So I suggest everyone jump on over to Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Company in Calabasas for $1.50 off the house pints and only $5.50 for the personal pizzas. It's a steal and you'll want to bring a friend for the $5 empanadas and potato skins.

Throughout the 805, happy hour prices range from approximately $2.50 - $3 for domestic brew, $3.50 - $4 for imports, $4 well drinks, $4 wines, $5 margaritas and slightly more for martinis. Small plates and appetizers will cost you about $3 - $6 each. You'll find similar prices at Enzo's at Glen Tavern Inn in Ojai, The Lab Brewing Company in Agoura Hills, Money Poncho in Camarillo, Sugarbeets Restaurant & Bar in Oxnard and Chinese/Japanese faire at Chin San Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar in Thousand Oaks. By the way, Sake is only $4.

But at The Edge in Westlake Village, you can get just about all their drinks for only $3.50 plus their bar menu is 50% off. Now that's taking the edge off high prices.

Zoey's Cafe in Ventura offers great discounts on both food and beverages, plus their music nourishes the senses.

You can also head over to Ventura Harbor for great music and the ocean air. With that said, I think the best Bloody Mary is available at Brophy Bros. Restaurant & Clam Bar at the harbor. The cost is only $4 and it's the bomb.

According to history buffs, the idea of drinking before dinner has its roots in the Prohibition era. That was the 20's and early 30's when alcohol could not be served at restaurants and citizens would host "cocktail hours", also known as "happy hours", at a speakeasy (an illegal drinking establishment).

I know it's not considered Happy Hour, but check out the great buffet lunch for only $8.95 at Two Guys from Italy in Moorpark. For only $8.95 you'll be full until September!

The Aqua Beachfront Bar you can cool down near the boardwalk with $4 well drinks, house wines and all draft or bottle beers. Your listeners can relax for a while and chow down on some $5 appetizers to accompany your drinks. Choose from coconut crusted calamari, ahi tuna, a couple of tacos and more.
